Sounds normal...: Urine certainly can have an ammonia-like smell and will be more pronounced after time has gone by and some of the water evaporates making what remains in the diaper more concentrated. If you are noticing pain with urination (crying at the time), blood, or fevers - see the pediatrician to ensure no UTI. Otherwise, be prompt with diaper changes to help prevent skin irritation.
