Consolidated sleep: is restorative, as it allows time to cycle through all REM & non-REM phases of sleep. At 24, you need 9-11 hours of sleep at night. If consistent use of sleep hygiene doesn't work for you after several weeks, then see your doctor for a physical exam & referral for an overnight sleep study for sleep apnea or parasomnias.

Sleep apnea: Please see your physician to see if your need a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea. Do you snore at night? You may need to be treated with CPAP to prevent hypopnea and deoxygenation at night. Sleep apnea leads to daytime drowsiness and can eventually lead to heart failure in some cases.
