The side effect: profile of SSRI's is generally superior to that of Tricyclic antidepressants (TCA). To get a TCA up in the dose range needed to treat depression - there is significant potential for side effects. I am not aware of a TCA being more beneficial than an SSRI for treatment of depression. (But TCA may be used for sleep or pain control). Take care.

If ssri's are so safe to take for long term (30+ years), then why depend on meditation, exercise or other non pharma methods for depression and anxiety which are so slow in giving relief from symptoms. Taking a pill is so easy. But there is stigma?
