When you feel better it's difficult to know if the condition improves spontaneously or because of medication's effect. However, with marked improvement, medication can be tapered then discontinued if there is no evidence of relapse. Once you are off the medication, it will only be restarted if symptoms recur. Drug holiday program is not used for antidepressants.
