Not usually: The term "carrier state" usually means that a person has been exposed to a certain infectious disease, but does not have symptoms of the disease but other people can catch the disease from the carrier. This occurs with disease like Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. It would be very unusual for a carrier state to occur with a disease like chicken pox.

Varicella/zoster: The virus that causes chicken pox will remain in your body for the rest of your life, so you are "carrying" the virus. It may reappear later in life in about 30% of those who have had chicken pox as shingles. The vaccine may help to prevent this from happening.
