A member asked:

What can i do if my teenage son has chicken pox, by taking care of him am i a carrier too?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: Chickenpox spreads by both an airborne & direct contact method. The moist secretions of weeping skin have viral particles that you could transfer to another, but simple use of hand washing or disinfectants can reduce this risk. You will not pass the airborne particles. After the weeping blisters have all dried the kid is no longer considered contagious. This is about a week from the start.
