If a pure cyst, not : a nodule or a fluid-filled cavity that has tissue mixed in, it could be cystic degeneration from an adenoma, a benign tumor, a branchial cleft cyst, or a cystic goiter. Pure cysts are unlikely to be from thyroid cancer. Her pediatrician will order free T4 & ultra-sensitive TSH hormones that show thyroid function. Her ENT may either watch its growth or do a procedure to test it & try to close it.
