Unknown: The origin of these defects are poorly understood. What you describe sounds like focal temporal alopecia, where there are often tiny fuzz like hairs at the site.Other forms include a scar like base, or a skin nevus.There are no easy treatments.Plastic surgeons can place a skin expander in the area, and come back months later & remove the spot & cover it with the expanded normal scalp.
