A member asked:

Does eating high - fibre, low sugar diet reduce risk of appendecitis ? i'm hypochondriac and panic after reading 1 in 14 people get appendecitis

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Appendicitis: A blockage in the lining of the appendix that causes infection is the likely source of appendicitis. The bacteria multiply rapidly, causing the appendix to become inflamed, swollen and filled with pus. If not treated promptly, the appendix can rupture. Almost all patients have severe pain, fever, nausea and vomiting. You cannot prevent this with diet. Do not overworry this issue.
