A member asked:

If you are able to pass gas, does that rule out appendicitis? just curious since apparently it has that as one of its symptoms. im a hypochondriac and worry, had a ct scan all normal.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe. Maybe not.: Life is not exact. As a person with appendicitis progresses, she will eventually have a spreading infection from a ruptured appendix. At that point, her bowels will stop moving and no longer pass gas. Prior to that point, she can pass some gas if her bowels are able to move a bit. Think appendicitis if she has right lower abdominal pain, fever, and worsened pain when walking or moving around.
