No: If there is no fever, it is extremely unlikely to be bacterial meningitis. People with meningitis will either have a high temp or, in a small percentage, will be hypothermic. I would use moist heat and ibuprofen/naproxen for the neck pain. One of the best ways to prevent meningitis is to get vaccinated. Best of luck, hope ur family feels better soon!

Meningitis: This is extremely unlikely, and if meningitis is occurring it would be viral, since bacterial meningitis would be likely to have made you so ill that you could not be asking this over the internet. Stiff painful necks occur commonly with many other illnesses and absent high fever, nausea, vomiting, alterations in sensorium or level of consciousness, rash, would find this highly improbable.
