Not the same: Can you tell me why you are "absolutely against" an EMG in order to diagnose? What is the problem with your pinky finger? Is a neurologist recommending the study? Because of course, pain in the fifth digit does not necessarily have to be neurologically based.The information from an EMG is entirely different and much more likely to give a true diagnosis of a neurological problem then any imaging.

YES: Yes you can have an ultrasound, but insurance companies may not allow. Therapy can be with splinting and you can also have it injected.

Get Clear Of Fear: Let's assume for the moment that your doctor wants the test for a valid reason. Isn't a short period of discomfort worth it if you can get rid of the long-term pain? An EMG is usually done along with an NCV (nerve conduction velocities) for even more info. Neither is too horrible. I had them. I survived. You should discuss this with your doctor to make sure the tests are truly indicated for your problem.
