A member asked:

Im about to do the chalazion removal surgery&i was wondering if i could be put to sleep for the procedure i understand they numb my eye but im nervous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: As with everything in medicine there are risks and benefits. Doing the procedure under local is quick, almost painless and avoids the risks of general anesthesia and the anxiety and inconvenience of going to a hospital or surgical facility. The only part of the procedure that is unpleasant is the numbing, but this can be done with only slight discomfort.
