Roughly 6 weeks: We say that most fractures heal in about 6 weeks under optimal conditions: fragments are reduced, aligned, and not moving while healing. That being said, a 3 year old may, in reality, heal a suspected growth plate fracture sooner- albeit often more difficult to achieve optimal conditions such as an absence of motion in a 3 year old.

Depends: How quickly growth plate fractures heal depends on a number of factors. The most important are probably: which bone is fractured, how severe it is, age and the general health of the child. That being said, children do tend to heal more quickly, and growth plate fractures heal more quickly than other fractures. Depends : Every injury and child is different, and the range is 2 weeks - 6 weeks. Sometimes it can take even longer as the children can get re-injured when they come out of the cast, as they usually are extremely active. Usually we gage how close to healing a child is by evaluating if they are still tender and how comfortable they are walking without support.
