High lactic acid: It appears you must be in a hospital because someone is getting 5 bags of fluid. Causes of lactic acid include metformin/,cyanide/Truvada/INH, reverse trasncriptase/ethanol/diabetic ketoacidosis /exercise induced lactic acidosis, infection/abscess/necrosis( sometimes intestinal necrosis from vascular ischemia),genetic abn of pyruvate, glucose/fructose phosphotase, or lymphoma.
