Invisalign: Yes. After orthodontic treatment retainers should be worn 2x/wk at the least. The retainers may feel tight on the teeth however the teeth will move back to the finish position and the retainer will feel less tight, at this point regular wear is essential. Retention: Retention is even more critical with clear aligner treatment than with braces treatment because the aligners are not as capable of properly arranging roots in bone as are braces. Therefore the relapse tendency is higher with aligner therapy. We instruct our patients to wear their retainers 24/7 for a full year after completion of active treatment, and every night after that for best stability.
