A member asked:

19 month old speaks 15 words and many protowords, understands one step commands and 100 words. tested, and is socially fine. speech delay or normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly delayed: At 19 months, one would expect a toddler to know 50-75 words, understand up to 200 and be able to follow a two step command. These are only general guidelines, as speech development can vary in certain situations, such as bilingual households, multiple siblings, etc. Excessive pacifier use has been linked to delayed speech development as well.
