Psychiatrists =Human: Do u know anything about the psychiatrist? Might help if referring psychologist told u a little abt how the psychiatrist works. U might also ask psychologist speak 2 the psychiatrist in advance, sharing what u want psychiatrist 2know. Finally, it might help 2write down those things u want 2communicate 2psychiatrist so u can refer 2your notes. Note psychiatrists get anxious/flustered too, sometimes.

Perspective: Some people get anxious because of their perspective. For years psychiatrists have been unfairly called "shrinks'. This slang reference often induces anxiety. I like to educate my patients and encourage them to look as psychiatrists as "stretches" they stretch and widen your perceptions and your coping mechanisms. That's nothing to be anxious about.
