Absent periods: "No period for six months" is not normal, and may be due to a failure to ovulate. Progesterone is produced at ovulation, and Prometrium (micronized progesterone) can artifically convert the lining of the womb to a post ovulatory state, so when the effect subsides, bleeding will occur. Prometrium (micronized progesterone) may produce withdrawal bleeding, but will not make your periods normal again. Other treatment may be necessary.
