Depends: Most herpes in the eye is on the eye in fact the cornea. Treatment is with topical antiviral drops with good effectiveness in most cases within about 5 days. Herpes can also affect the interior of the eye, but this is rare. It can also be treated with systemic antivirals. Treatment takes longer and there is a risk of visual loss in these cases.
