Low risk: in General it would take a lot of constriction to cause stasis and clotting in the superficial veins, and very unlikely for the deep veins. The stocking usually force flow to the deep veins to reduce stasis. But get good fitting!

Dvt: support or compression stocking do not cause dvt all socks are in a single length so sometimes it may be too long also recommend that stocking be placed with leg elevated to prevent potential swelling if the sock is placed when there is already swelling it will cause possible skin indentation
