A 24-year-old male asked:
How does the body metabolize and eliminate particles that are injected into the skin (ie tattoo ink during laser removal) ?

Plastic Surgery 43 years experience
Macrophages: When a laser is use to reduce the appearance of tattoo's they break up the pigment into smaller particles. You body then has macrophages - think of them as biologic "packmen" that gobble up the particles.
