Not necessary: Ultrasounds are not necessary unless there is a problem. They are commonly done to confirm gestational dates in the first trimester and for anomally scans in the second trimester. Otherwise they are done if there is a question that can be answered or for checking for fetal well-being in a high risk pregnancy. Hope this helps.
