I had esophageal ulcer 3 years ago. upper gi say it is clear. take dexilant (dexlansoprazole). very costly+ write up says not to take so long, should i switch? if so what should i try?

UGI peptic Rx: You have options. OTC omeprazole can suffice. It is a step down in potency yet effective. I recommend that as a first step. Also, try to remedy why the ulcer occurred - eat small bites, chew well, have modest meals, do not overeat spice, avoid alcohol, aim for ideal wt and BMI, don't eat much after 8 pm. Then you can transition to ranitidine twice daily - also OTC. Is less potent.
