Methylphenidate &: amphetamine, stimulant medications, manage symptoms of ADHD effectively in 80-90% of patients. The non-stimulant medications atomoxetine, guanfacine & clonodine are effective in ~ 65% of patients with ADHD. Some patients require both types of medications. See CHADD.org. for information & support. Behavioral therapy & environmental manipulations are also necessary components of optimal management.
