Already Answered?: First of all it takes several weeks before Heart Beat is detected (>5), second the fetal heart beat is sometimes technically difficult to hear (auscultate) due to fetal position. Once heart beat established, if fetus is moving around it does have a heart beat. Still it should be detected at each doc visit to make sure rate is appropriate for fetal age.
