A 30-year-old female asked:

first ultrasound showed healthy fetus, second ultrasound no fetus or heartbeat. did i have a miscarriage?

Exact answer needs .: Details and review of the images. Given what you describe, and assuming no mistake with the first ultrasound (meaning there was an embryo), then the lack of a viable embryo/fetus would mean a miscarriage during the interval. Please discuss with your ob/gyn. A blood test of the pregnancy hormone (HCG) can be performed twice a couple of days apart - if decreasing, would confirm pregnancy loss.

Follow instructions: No matter what you do, there is always a risk of miscarriage following these procedures. Most doctors who perform them will tell you to limit your activity for 24-48 hours after the procedure. Make sure to follow all instructions you are given to minimize the risk of miscarriage.

Ask the doctor their own rates especially for cvs and no doubt the more experience a physician has the lower the risks usually in their hands.

OB/peds have protocl: The frequency of invasive group b strep disease has declined since the adoption of surveillance and treatment protocols by ob's & peds. Since gbs can come & go, most moms will be screened at 35-37 wks & receive abx during labor if positive, if status unknown she will be treated. Babies are monitored, tested& treated if any signs appear that suggest invasive disease. Discuss your concerns with ob.

Not clear question..: If you are referring to umbilical artery abnormal doppler velocimetry, this is a specialized test for growth restricted fetuses and there is not much you can do about preventing fetal growth restriction. Avoid exercise and follow your perinatologist's instructions to avoid pregnancy complications. Hope this answers your question - if not, please try to specify what you are concerned about.
