Neomycin allergy: Bacitracin, or Double Antibiotic ointment is an over the counter option for people who have neomycin sensitivities ( the most common culprit in Neomycin). Otherwise, washing twice daily with hypo allergic soap and water and keeping the wound covered should help prevent infection.

Talk with your doc: You should review this with the provider who completed the excision as everyone is different in regards to wound care. It isn't uncommon to react to neosporin so it's not unreasonable to hold off on using it for now.
