Hormones: during puberty there are many hormonal changes as you know. Sometimes there may be a larger amount of estrogen for several reasons which usually self correct over time. This is usually a normal occurrence. In your case the enlargement persisted and the right answer is to remove them if they hurt. If you had this since adolescent years no other test is needed.
