It takes time: Genetic testing is a delicate process, and many tests can take up to several weeks before results are known. Karyotypes are generally available in less than two weeks. Other specific tests may have been ordered at the same time (take longer), which is one explanation as to why you haven't gotten results yet. It is normal to be apprehensive about such studies, keep your chin up!

Try not to stress: Karyotyping takes time - it's not like you may see on TV where lab results are back in 5 minutes. Genetic analysis has come a long way and certainly is much faster then it used to be but still takes time. Try to relax. When your doctor gets the results they will let you know without delay.

It varies: kareotyping may take some time depending on what they are looking for. They may require the sample being ran more than once to be complete.
