Hand trauma: You could have a bone fracture or significant soft tissue injury such as ligament or tendon tear. Please seek medical attention for exam and imaging for proper diagnosis and management. You may need immobilization and possibly OT.

See below: You have bruised the nerve (in the wrist) or produced either a hematoma or fluid swelling of the fibers in the wrist through which the nerves to the hand pass (as in carpal tunnel syndrome). Put some ice on it for 20 min/hour repeatedly. If it starts to subside, you are home free. Take an analgesic, such as ibuprofen, as well. If the symptoms persists, you will need to call an orthopedist.
