You are wise: If there is any alternative to these drugs for life, you should pursue it. However, I am not an expert. Assume you've seen a gastroenterologist. Tell your fears to him/her, ask why you should be troubled with this at such an early age (there are some family syndromes, some endocrine conditions and some birth defects that could be causing it) and ask if there is ANY other approach.
