A member asked:

Can you actually rid small hiatal hernias? why if mine is small my acid reflux is so major? those over the counter drugs do not help me either. do i need surgery? would it be a long recovery even for a small hiatal hernia?

Your small hiatal hernia may be an incidental finding that has nothing to do with your acid reflux. Food, stress, alcohol, and medications can contribute to persistent symptoms of acid reflux. The next step is a visit with a Gastroenterologist.
