Depends on...: what is being treated, duration of treatment so far, dose response to medication, inciting factors (ongoing NSAID use, tobacco, alcohol), likelihood of excessive acid production (e.g. Gastrinoma), risk factors (e.g. Prior ulcers, family history), biopsy results (if endoscopy performed).Relative to timing, best take before breakfast for optimal benefit. If doc agrees could assess symptoms off drug.

A 38-year-old female asked:

Can gallbladder surgery cause you to develop acid/bile reflux?

Not usually: Once a bad gallbladder is removed and those symptoms fade, your underlying bile/acid reflux may become more symptomatic. Bile binders and anti acid medications can help you. Okay to check in with your surgeon or your regular doc. Be well.
