Symptomatic treatmen: Campylobacter recover without any specific treatment. Patients should drink extra fluids till diarrhea lasts. Antibiotis are needed for severe disease or those with immune systems deficiency states. Azithromycin and fluoroquinolones (e.g., cipro) are commonly used for treatment of these infections, but resistance to these is common.Antimicrobial susceptibility testing can help guide treatment.

Diarrhea: Return to your dr or a GI specialist for repeat stool cultures first to make sure the infection has cleared and not recurred. It may also be important to rule out Clostridium difficile(Cdiff) since your treatment with antibiotics.

Campylobacteriosis: Let your doctor know. Antibiotics usually aren't needed for Campylobacter but may be needed in more severe infections. As stated previously. C. Difficile is a possibility. Your doctor may wish to reassess at this point.
