My dr diagnosed me with diverticulitis without pockets. what does that mean?

Not sure: as diverticulitis requires you to have diverticulosis or the "pockets". IF you do not have diverticulosis you can not have diverticulitis. Perhaps you should clarify with your doctor as you may have misunderstood, or get another opinion.
