Depends on cause: Obstruction of the kidney can be caused by many possibilities such as stones, strictures of the ureter (narrowing of the tube) from prior surgeries or radiation, cancerous causes that block the ureter, or ureteropelvic junction obstruction (born with kink or narrowing) in junction between kidney and the ureter. The treatment depends on the cause.
