A member asked:

If diabetic retinopathy is affected due to diabetes, is it curable totally or can we prevent further damage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

2 things to do: Hi. Diabetic retinopathy is devastating and causes way too much blindness. But we've come a long way. Tight diabetes control lessens the risk of, at least, early retinopathy from progressing. Also retinal laser photocoagulation in the hands of experienced ophthalmologists saves eyesight even in advanced diabetic retinopathy. Good diabetes control and a good eye doc...priceless in preserving vision
