Depend on # and size: Hepatocellular carcinoma is not common but most often the result of Hep B or C virus. If small and localized can be treated by microwave ablation in up to 3 lesions. Other approaches include chemo-embolization since the tumor grows off arterial supply to liver and hepatocytes require portal blood. More recently radioactive microspheres have been employed successfully .
