Thyroid disease is: biggest cause of bulging eyes, not eye pressure. Intraocular eye pressure can be very high & it won't cause the eyes to bulge. It will cause the eyes to feel hard as stones.Buldging eyes is when the orbital fat is pushing the eyes from the sockets & can in itself cause higher eye pressure on the optic nerve, which is why patients with Hashimoto's or Grave's disease needs to have their eyes checked.
