A member asked:

I have a severely dilated left atrium according to an echo test the rest of the heart is normal can i reverse this condition?

Dr. Jesus Yap answered

Depends: Isolated dilatation of the left atrium is very unusual and is often associated with something else like a mitral valve problem. Go and ask your doctor for the rest of the information and he can determine if it is potentially reversible. Like everything else the prognosis depends on the cause.
