Aspiration: Aspiration pneumonia can occur after inhaling liquids. Symptoms would include persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, wheezing, abnormal sputum, etc. Presence of these symptoms should prompt a visit to a doctor for evaluation.

Check breathing now: if okay, you may have swallowed a little bit of liquid. Do not need to do anything unless you are having breathing or swallowing difficulties. Then you need to see a dr. quickly!

Get it checked: If you swallowed some soup but are doing fine, then I wouldn't worry. If you are having cough and especially if you have wheezing or shortness of breath, then get it checked. Hope that helps.
