Depends: People with known gallbladder disease can decrease pain by avoiding eating fat containing foods. However, when fever, uncontrolled vomiting, or severe pain occur, the patient may require hospitalization. One study showed ibuprofen as helpful as Bentyl (dicyclomine) for gall bladder pain.
