A member asked:

I had the "acth, plasma" test done. what is this for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Test adrenal fxn.: This test is to check on whether or not your adrenal glands are working right. It is produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. It is often produced in response to biological stress. Its action is to increase production and release of corticosteroids. A deficiency of acth results in secondary adrenal insufficiency and an excess of it results in cushing’s syndrome.
