Swollen left tonsil for a while. no symptoms, no pain, no white stuff on it either. what could this be?

Some possibilities.: certainly a mild cold could do this (and there is a cold going around that has made the front page sections!) Other mild viruses such as mononucleiosis, or tumor, or other infection would be expected to do much more than mild increase in shize of one tonsil.
