Formal PFTs: Major issues would be asthma, allergies and certainly smoking. You will need formal pulmonary function testing and I would need to know FVC, FEV1 and FEV3. You should also have a routine physical examination with blood testing.

Perhaps: If you smoke - stop! If you know of allergens - stay free of them. If you are sedentary, plan to be more active. Eat mostly vegan - some animal protein is fine, just not much. Find a beginner yoga class and learn breathing exercises - or start w/ breathing exercises.
