Trauma is not: isolated to just what you fracture. Usually, there's significant soft tissue damage & shearing forces of tendons, fascia, muscle & connective tissue, along w/ trauma to other vertebrae, nerves and blood vessels too.So, you were lucky to have only fractured one vertebrae.The thoracics in general have connections to your spine & ribs in back & indirectly to the sternum from the strain pattern (fall)
