A member asked:

Does muscle or fascia scar tissue go away on its own. if not, i heard massage helps it heal. is this true, and if so how should an injury be massaged?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reducing scar tissue: Scar tissue massage after gently heating in tub or shower, with a creamy lotion, will gradually reduce stiffness. Massage should be relatively deep and slow, going different directions -do circles, lines, opposing lines, sideways to original direction. 5 minutes 2 to 3 times a day over several months is normal, may require more if deeper thicker scar. Don't rub until red or irritated
