Hi PTH: PTH refers to ParaThyroid Hormone. Parathyroid glands reside just behind the thyroid gland. We typically have four glands. This hormone is essential for bone metabolism and structural integrity, and this hormone governs calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. PTH interacts with vitamin D in these actions. Vit D regulates PTH secretion. Hi PTH happens in kidney dz and autonomously. Requires rx.

Depends: Hi. If your blood calcium is high and your urinary calcium is high you've got a parathyroid tumor or hyperplasia (primary hyperparathyroidism). If your blood calcium is normal or low, some condition is threatening your body with low blood calcium and your parathyroids are responding to maintain blood calcium (secondary hyperparathyroidism). Talk with your doc. May need endocrine referral. Good luk
