Latuda (lurasidone) : Blocks dopamine receptors. Bipolar is a chemical imbalance of too much dopamine in the central nervous system/brain. So Latuda (lurasidone) is like an umbrella that makes a downpour bearable to a sprinkle. In general this is true of all second generation antipsychotics eg Abilify, Risperdal, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Geodon, and others.
